AfricaOverland TromboneWestwww.overlandtrombone.comMy name is Ian Moseley and for the past 21 years I have been a professional trombonist. During that time I have enjoyed a great deal of travelling and for several years have entertained the idea of making an Overland journey through Africa to Cape Town in a Landrover. In January 2009 I intend to take a sabbatical year in order to realise that goal. I currently plan to travel the West Coast route and will bring a trombone with me which I hope will help enhance my interaction with new people.2009
AfricaAfritrexEast & Westwww.afritrex.comWhilst circumnavigating the African Continent we will complete the following challenges: To complete five marathons of at least 26 miles To climb five of the highest mountains in Africa To visit as many of the sites across Africa where the Victoria Cross has been won as possible (VC180 Challenge) 2008
AfricaJourney to the EquatorEastwww.journeytotheequator.comI have never owned a motorcycle. In fact I had never even been on a motorcycle before. I did not even know what a clutch or gear was until I was eighteen. However I did spend every other weekend of my childhood in South Africa breathing in my dad’s petrol fumes at his enduro races and running around enduro tracks revving my imaginary engine. That was my motor biking experience before this all began. Now I am revving my own real engine, and slowly coming to terms with going 80km/ph round dirt road bends hoping that nothing goes wrong. 2008
AfricaMogletEast & Westwww.moglet.co.ukAfrica overland, starting in Morocco, heading anti-clockwise pretty much all the way round. Heading on after that, not sure where yet...2008
AfricaOns4East & Westwww.ons4.reproroom.comWell, it's me (Jean), Hannelie, Jean-Pierre (4) and Wilhelm (2) that decided we will take a year out. We are leaving end of March 2008 for Mozambique and will be in Europe for September, then it's down again via the western side. In all our travels around Southern Africa we always ran into Overlanders, the bug bit and it bit hard!2008
AfricaOur Wild JourneyEastwww.ourwildjourney.comHi, we are Andrea and Rene, in only 4 weeks we go on our big adventure from Prague to Capetown via the Eastern route. We hope the best for our "bumblebee", our 1992 Nissan Patrol (short version). The drums are beating, the animals calling and our feet are itchy...we have to go! Right now we are "covered" in preparation stuff, maps, plans, drawings, things etc etc! Follow our trip, ask us questions...or even come with us! :o)2008
AfricaOverAfricaEast & Westwww.overafrica.orgLeaving in October 2008, heading down the west coast from Morocco to South Africa, and then back up the east coast to... not sure how far, we'll take it as it comes!2008
AfricaPatroling AfricaEast & Westwww.patrolingafrica.comDoing an overland trip through Africa has been a dream I have had as far back as I can remember, and the few short trips north of the South Africa border I have done with friends during varsity holidays has only made the whole idea more tantalising. Now it would seem that dream is about to become a reality. After spending the last 9 years living and working in the U.K I have decided it is time to head home.2008

AfricaAdventure AndrewEastwww.adventureandrew.comExperienced travellers Jaye and Andrew fullfilled a dream by buying a Landrover in the UK and driving it to Cape Town over 8 months. Our site has 2 pages with dedicated tips and information for future & current overlanders2007
AfricaAfrica 2 OrmondEastwww.africa2ormond.co.ukFour from the UK, along with their Land Rovers Betty and Daphne, will visit 15 African countries in nine months in a bid to raise multi-cultural awareness and hopefully some money for charity. Departing for South Africa in September 2007 and January 2008, the two teams will undertake an exhausting journey through the African continent testing their physical/ mental endurance and technical expertise to the limit. 2007
AfricaAfrica OverlandEastwww.africaoverland.com.au Over the last 20 years and after eight trips (and 32 weeks) to Africa where we picked up a vehicle and drove around a few countries including South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, as well as touring and camping in Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) and Egypt, we’ve decided to spend over eight months and drive from Cape Town to London (in 2007).2007
AfricaAfrican Odyssey NZEastwww.africanodyssey.co.nzA documentary following four friends hailing from Whakatane, New Zealand. Armed with limited motorcycle experience but plenty of enthusiasm Phillip Anderson, Jeremy Gray, Julian Kardos and Nic Twaddle intend to ride motorbikes the length of the African continent from Cape Town to London2007
AfricaBrighton2CapeTownWestbrighton2capetown.googlepages.comI have had a passion for motorcycles for years, and am deeply envious of various friends of mine that have done some proper travelling. Whilst they were taking gap years and student vacations in India or China, taking time out after graduation to jet off to Asia, or later spending a year post university working in Australia, I was merrily spending my time benefitting my future career. I spent my gap year and student vacations working in engineering in preparation for what is now my career, not seeing the world, and on leaving Bristol Uni I just got stuck straight in... All very worthy, but perhaps a missed opportunity. Whilst thinking about this early in 2006, the obvious answer came to me. Go somewhere interesting. On a motorbike. It's hardly rocket science, is it? :o) 2007
AfricaBuya Ikhaya (Come Home)Eastbuyaikhaya.blogspot.comCharlie and Rensche are coming home by riding motorbikes from London to Cape Town. 2007
AfricaDepart 2 PeninsulaEastwww.depart2peninsula.comCathy and Glyn Riley are a thirty-something couple who live and work in the picturesque Chew Valley, 30 minutes south of Bristol, UK. Five years ago they moved from South Africa to the UK. For many years they had dreamed about travelling across Africa, exploring the continent and having great adventures along the way. Now they have got the opportunity to do so, and have decided to go back home for a visit, by motorbike.2007
AfricaHome 2 HomeEastwww.unamis.net/home2homeOur dream to do an overland 4x4 trip is something that was born over five years ago when we were living in Brussels. After four years here in the world’s most liveable city Melbourne, and after over 18 months of preparation we’re now ready to begin this adventure of a lifetime. The finish line will be in France, and our rediscovery and perhaps discovery as we settle in this country is also part of the challenge. But on the way towards France, we’ve decided to cross the only continent in which neither of us have ever set foot… and it’s with our feet firmly inside our 4 wheel drive that we will cross it: 7 months of adventure and exploration which will take us from South Africa, up the East African coast and into Tunisia. 2007
AfricaLong Road HomeEast & Westwww.longroadhome.me.uk/We are a married couple who love independant travel off the beaten track. We have done a backpacking trip to South East Asia and through East and Southern Africa. We are moving to South Africa and so we decided to take the long, slow way and drive ourselves home. Campbell is a Scotsman, who's been convinced that Africa is the place to be and Linnéa is a Durbanite who's had enough of the UK. We are really looking forward to having the freedom of our own vehicle with which to explore the wilds of Africa before settling into our new life in South Africa. We are collating as much information as possible on our preparations and during our trip to post on the web to help others to plan a similar trip.2007
AfricaNomad AdventuresEast & Westwww.nomad-adventures.com/The essence of the trip for me goes back to a day when, at a friends place, I was drawn to a photograph on the wall of friends sitting on the front of a Land Rover while watching a beautiful sunset. What inspired me and has made me remember the photograph was the caption at the bottom which read "The tragedy of life is not how short it is, but rather how long we take to live it". Trying to live each day by these words isn't easy and this trip is just another way of me being true to myself and living life to its fullest while exploring and appreciating the life we have for what it is; being happy, exploring new places, having the best of friends in the whole world and mostly having by best friend with me through it all.2007
AfricaQuads across AfricaEast & Westwww.quadsacrossafrica.comJosh and Anna met in the Summer of 2005 in Corfu, Greece. Anna had just finished college and was in Greece doing an internship in Hotel Management, Josh was in the middle of riding his BMW 1150GS around the world. After spending 5 wonderful days together, Josh had to continue his journey. Before he left Corfu, he also left Anna with an invitation to join him. He did not want to pressure Anna into taking up this life on the road, so he said in 5 days, he would be awaiting her decision, at the ferry terminal in Venice, Italy. As fate would have it, Anna arrived on the 7:00 A.M. ferry. Anna and Josh's adventures had just begun, they traveled across Europe and Africa aboard one overloaded BMW GS. Two years after they met they are now happily married and are inseperable (at least according to everyone that knows them). For the complete story of their early adventures visit their website www.ridingtheglobe.com 2007

AfricaAfrica Overland in a Defender 110Eastwww.africa-overland.piczo.comOn the 29th July 2006 we are leaving to spend 8 months driving through Africa to Umtata in Cape Town. Once there we will then spend 4 months teaching at Nyangilizwe Senior Secondary School from the 14th April to the end of July. After that we may head back up to Botswana to do a couple of months work, either in conservation or at a lodge. Who knows, things are fairly relaxed out here! On this site you'll be able to follow how we are getting on and hopefully find some useful information about how to organise a trip like this.2006
AfricaBill's African AnticsWestwww.africanantics.comWelcome to my African Antics. Here you will find details of my unsupported solo expedition, anticlockwise around the African continent. On my journey I'll be travelling through over thirty countries and getting up to... Well who knows, that's the point of the trip, to just go and see what happens. 2006
AfricaCape to AmsterdamEastwww.capetoamsterdam.comWelcome to our website! AfricaDesign for AfricaEastwww.designforafrica.com/Designers Frank Hofmann and Staffan Weigel are heading south with the conviction that design can be more than brightly coloured mobile phones and translucent salad forks. The trip will start in Morocco and go via Nairobi, Kenya for a 2 months long design project, hopefully end in South Africa. The most experienced member of the team will be Sally, the 20 year old Landy who already did the trip once.2006
AfricaDriving DoctorsEastwww.drivingdoctors.comIn April 2006 our adventure started to drive the 25000 km from Amsterdam to Cape Town through East Africa. During our travelling we worked in Mission Hospitals and hopefully, did a small and humble contribution to the African people. Daphne & Frodo2006
AfricaGone Wandering or Travels with my looWestwww.gonewandering.co.ukLike most great adventures it started in the pub, well that’s not true, alcohol as usual made me say what I’d been thinking for a while “I’ve been thinking it might be fun to buy a 4x4 and drive to Capetown!”. It went quiet as they looked at each other. " You know I thought you said you were going to buy a vehicle and drive Europe to Capetown. You must be bloody mad. You can’t even find your way to ASDA without getting lost!" 2006
AfricaLangebaan SunsetWestwww.langebaan-sunset.comThis is our website documenting our 4x4 overland trip from London to Cape Town in a Land Rover 110 Defender. The original plan was to visit Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Ghana, Gabon, Congo, Angola, Namibia, The Skeleton Coast and end up in South Africa. But the plan is changing and we plan to come back via the East Coast and are now thinking about turning right at Egypt, on into Asia and possibly to Oz to end up in New Zealand. 2006
AfricaLon-Cap 2006/7Eastwww.lon-cap.comLeaving London on 15th October 2006 we plan to travel across Europe to Turkey taking the route through Germany, Austria and the Balkans to Istanbul. After Turkey we travel through Syria, picking up Fran and into Jordan and Egypt. Crossing the border from Jordan to Egypt requires us to take a ferry from Aqaba (Jordan) to Nuweiba (Egypt) to avoid Israeli stamps on our passport, carnet, etc. Once in Africa we head for Cairo to obtain our Sudanese visas and for a team reshuffle. We lose Graham in Cairo, who is replaced by John’s father Andy. From Cairo we head along the Nile to Aswan, where Fran leaves us, and take the ferry along Lake Nasser to Sudan. We cross North East Sudan to Khartoum and Ethiopia. We separate from John and Andy in Ethiopia who are shooting on down to Zimbabwe in time for Christmas – hopefully we will meet them again in the New Year. We plan to spend three weeks in Ethiopia, before traveling to Kenya for Christmas. Then follows three weeks of game viewing and travel in Kenya and Tanzania before meeting Sarah (joining from Dubai) around 20th January. From there our plans become more flexible and we head down through Mozambique and Southern Malawi before entering Zambia. Our route may then pass through Zimbabwe and / or Botswana before heading for South Africa and Cape Town during April. After a brief respite in Cape Town we will take the vehicles up to Walvis Bay in Namibia from where they will be shipped back to the UK. 2006
AfricaLong Road Trip SouthEast & Westwww.longroadtripsouth.comLONG ROAD TRIP SOUTH is the record of our overland adventure and exploration through Africa, heading south from Gloucestershire in the UK to Cape Town in South Africa. The site will show our preparation and planning before the trip and a diary with stories, photos and videos during the trip. 2006
AfricaMonkey FingersEast & Westwww.monkeyfingers.comWe aim to drive from the UK to South Africa and back to the UK. We will leave London in late September 2006 and head via Spain to Morocco and down the west coast of Africa to Cape Town. Assuming we are still on speaking terms and our old car feels up to it, we will return to London up the east coast and back to Europe either through the Middle East or across North Africa, depending on political events and our love of sand by then. There is a map of our route although this is fairly flexible and likely to change as we go along. 2006
AfricaOur African OdysseyEastwww.ourafricanodyssey.co.ukThe purpose of our website is threefold: For family and friends, who can keep in touch with where we are and what we are up to. For other overlanders, who are doing a similar trip and wish to share information. For tempting (or putting off) other curious visitors into making a similar trip.2006

AfricaSafaricaEast & Westwww.safarica.noAfrica is not far away. The continent boarders Europe, only divided by the Mediterranean sea and only half an hour boat ride from the south of Spain. Still Africa seems for most people distant and unknown. That’s the situation for us as well (or at least it was before we entered our trip..) . For us Africa has been a place first and foremost known through the TV. Either in connection with tragic events as drought, famine, civil wars, floods, epidemics and AIDS on the one hand or the fabulous nature and animal life presented in nature programs with David Attenborough and his likes on the other hand. As a consequence Africa has been quite frightening and intimidating to most people, but at the same time it also has a strong seductive force. A force we have given in to, as we now have decided to challenge the TV and explore Africa ourselves: We are leaving on a journey - SAFARICA – a detour through Africa with a 4x4. 2006
AfricaSientje op SafariEastsientjeopsafari.punt.nlNiels and Sanne will be spending the next ten months in their orange Landrover 109 Ambulance named Sientje. They will start their journey in Holland and will be going through Europe, Turkey, Syria, Jordan and will be entering Africa in Egypt, where they will head down the East Coast to the South of Africa.2006
AfricaSouthward BoundEast & Westwww.southwardbound.co.ukNo matter where you're going or what your plans are, it's sure to be one of the most exciting and interesting events of your life. The adventure… the new places… the new people & new friends… the fun… the life experience… the activities… the landscapes… maybe you are even going travelling to "find yourself". But whatever your reasons for doing it, it's going to be the time of your life, and you will want to preserve the memories for ever. 2006

AfricaAfrica WandererEast & Westwww.whitecottagewebsites.co.uk/africa/Why you may ask are we leaving the comfort and security of home to travel an uncertain road in Africa? The answer lies partly in our past. We were both, coincidentally, born in and spent our early childhoods in Africa. Steve, in the currently named Democratic Republic of Congo and Michele in Ghana. It has always been our intention to return to understand something of this vast continent. We have always enjoyed travelling but been frustrated by the restrictions imposed by fitting it into 'annual leave'. For example, last year we toured New Zealand by motorbike in three weeks but would have liked six! 2005
AfricaBig Sky AdventuresEast & Westwww.bigsky-adventures.com/No point in sitting back and relaxing when there is an adventure at hand! In summary, there was just the two of us - Martin Solms & Debbie McMahon - One Land Rover Defender, and the whole continent of Africa! O yes, we took almost a year to do it in!2005

AfricaTractor to the South PoleEastwww.tractortractor.orgSouthpole is a journey by tractor. A journey through Europe, through the Balkan, and through Africa. And from South-Africa, the Cape of Good Hope, by boat to the South pole. On the South pole by tractor or on foot to the Pole itself. Southpole, besides a journey and expedition, is also a document. Above all, Southpole wants to give attention to special projects of NGO’s. (Non Governmental Organisations like WarChild and Unicef, but also small local projects..) Initiatives which deserve attention because they show faith, courage, endurance and love. Southpole needs media, so she can be followed, so she won’t go alone. Southpole wants to inspire, wants to involve. Above all, Southpole hopes to generate a lot of positive energy.2005
